Scholars -    From Kid Gov – If you would like to participate in “Frosty Friends” you are invited to.  What is Frosty Friends you ask….you will receive a name of another person who is interested in playing this game but shhhh don’t tell, it’s a secret until the 19th.  You CAN NOT buy your FF friend a gift, you are to write them a nice note or find a great quote that will make them smile each day next week.  If you are interested Kid Gov has will have a table set up today(12th) in Ms. Kessler’s room.   You will turn your name in and by the end of the day you will draw who your Frosty Friend is.
Scholars you will notice that your homework has been cut short this week.  We have decided to do that because we want you to use your time in the morning and waiting for the bus to brush up on your Math Skill and Motion and Design objectives so you can shine on the Case 21 tests next week.  Use your notebook and other scholars to help you fill out your Study Guide.  Ask another scholar or an adult to help you study the concepts.  The examples that are real life to you will help you to understand some of the new concepts you have learned this quarter.  If you are interested in participating in the Frosty Friends game please write “I am interested” on the back of your buzz and if you are not we are just curious to why, so please tell us why you are not interested on the back of your buzz now.  We hope that all of you have a wonderful Holiday break and as always we are very proud of you and look forward to returning in January to have a wonderful second half of 5th grade!
Parents – We will take our Quarter 2 Case21 in Reading, Math, and Science Monday – Wednesday.  Please help your child review addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of decimals in math.  Also, quiz them on the study guide in science.  We feel as though this study guide will really help them do a fantastic job on the test.  We will continue to have Science on Monday and Tuesday afternoon.  Thank you to Margaret, Laurie, Becky, Julie, and Kelly Zellman for offering to volunteer for our Bowling get together on Sunday.  Also, thank you to Margaret, Chris Z., and Ms. Missy for chaperoning our field trip to the Marbles Museum.
Your child will go home with their report card on the 19th.  Of course if you feel as though there are any errors don’t hesitate to contact either of us.  We have been known to make a few.  We hope you all have a wonderful Holiday break and look forward to seeing each of you in January for our second half of 5th grade! It is hard to believe!

Those of you that are able to join our Learning Experience on Friday, December 19th at 9:30am, we look forward to seeing you.! Thank you for all that you do to support our learning environment .__________________Scholars Initials that you have read the BUZZ

Scholars – (from kid gov) Don’t forget to go to Mary Blake about the SBA. Raleigh Rescue Mission “bundled up” will end on November7th.  So, if you have anything that you would like to donate please get it in before Track out. Happy Trackout!  Please remember that ALL Yoga balls will need to be deflated and sent home on Thursday.  We are going to do that because we do not want anyone to ruin your ball while we are tracked out.  You need to remember that others use our room when we are not here so really take home anything of value.  All materials will be stored in Ms. Kessler’s room BUT Ms. Graf’s kids, you NEED to bring a bag to store your items in. We will have this first contest with the kids that are almost done with Lexia and then we will create a new contest once that is finished for others who are not close to finishing.  Either way, please feel free to work on at home. Write the 3 formulas of work on the back of the buzz!
PARENT’S Corner – We have been wrapping up Coordinate Planes in Geometry(5.G.1) and are beginning multiplication with decimals.  We have started our Motion and Design science unit and will be creating our vehicles by the beginning of next week.  In reading, we finished reviewing all text structures and turned in our first assignment.  We will have another assignment this week that reviews different types of text structures(sequence, chronological etc.)  We are continuing to use the program, Empowering Writers.  The scholars are learning to really use their senses to create a vivid and detailed story focusing on organization and variety of word choice.

We hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and restful break! Thank you for all that you do to support our learning environment .__________________Scholars Initials that you have read the BUZZ

Scholars Corner – Hello scholars, there has been a technical difficulty and we will send the Lowdown soon but it will be late.  Mrs. Monroe comes back Monday and will help us to get it up and running.  The school should be informed about the Raliegh Rescue Mission and be able to donate scarves, gloves, hats, and mittens.  If you or any other person donates you will have a chance to win a prize at the end of each week. Remember the Book Fair begins on the 13th.  Camp Flintlock will be here for a on-campus field trip. Good Luck, happy reading, and enjoy the field trip!  G5/T2 Kid Gov.
You will notice we have made a change to when last week’s CAFÉ work is due.  You will no longer have Wednesday CAFÉ to work on the previous week’s work.  You need to remember that work is due on Friday.  You need to make sure that you have your buzz on your desk each morning so that we can check over your work.  Also remember, even if it is not done on time that you will still need to complete it so you will not be getting out of that practice that we feel is beneficial!
PARENT’S CORNER-  last week we began many new objectives.  In math we have begun to compare and contrast quadrilaterals and triangles.  We have also started a project on Discovery Education that incorporates our decimal objectives and also our objectives in Economy. It’s titles Let’s Have a Party  Your scholar has an individual login if you would like to check it out.  They will have three weeks to work on this project and it will be worked on here at school.  We are continuing to learn about and find articles about different text structures and we will eventually be writing our own.  We have started a book titles Chains by Laurie Anderson.  This book is an historical fiction novel and it is about our country becoming America and the different obstacles that we had to withstand in that time period.  It begins in 1776.  In writing, we are continuing with Empowering Writing series and worked on adding detail and a variety of adjectives to our pieces.  We hope to begin quarter 2 Science Objective, Motion and Design within a week.
We hope to see you at Media by Moonlight on October 15th.  G5/T2 is holding a schoolwide fund raiser for Raleigh Rescue Mission and will be collecting scarves, socks hats, gloves.  They have titled it – Bundle Up Brassfield.
