Great Information about Brian Selznick Book Signing!! Coming Soon! I'll post more before October 16th!

You can get tickets a couple of ways:
  • Buy "The Marvels" from Quail Ridge and get as many as five tickets for the program. You'll also get a ticket for the signing line to have him sign your book. The book sells for $32.99. It's best to call the store to order your book as soon as you know you're going so you can get an earlier signing line ticket.
  • $5 admission only tickets also are available (but you won't get a ticket for the signing line).

A message from Spanish!

This fall, the students at Brassfield will be learning all about the cultural practices, products, and perspectives of the Mexican people! We are going to be studying the popular Mexican holiday, El Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. The Mexican people celebrate the lives of their loved ones who have passed away, and during these 2 days they participate in many traditions! The students will be learning about Mexican traditions such as making sugar skulls, eating sweet bread (pan de muerto), decorating houses with marigolds, and special Day of the Dead dances. 5th graders will even get to decorate their own sugar skull to bring home! Because of track out schedules, Track 3 will be participating in these activities on Monday, October 19. Tracks 1,2,4 will be participating in these activities during the week of the actual holiday. If you have any questions about the activities that we will participate in during class, please do not hesitate to email me directly at elipetzky@wcpss.net. Gracias!
