Time for Recorders!

Hello Parents!

I am excited to share that during the second quarter in Music, students will be learning how to play the recorder in class! Recorders provide a unique and authentic education of music fundamentals, solo/group performance, and expression. For sanitation purposes, I require that students own a personal recorder that they can use for class and home. It will be the student’s responsibility to bring their recorder to class on the day that they have Music. Recorders can be purchased at any community music store and typically range from $3-$12. Different color options are available for your student; I do not have any preference as to what they choose. You can visit the stores listed for any musical needs:

Music & Arts
Poyner Place
5950 Poyner Village Pkwy f101
Raleigh, NC 27616

Falls River Music
10930 Raven Ridge Road #103
Raleigh, NC 27614

During this time, students will be practicing at home. I encourage you to be supportive in their musical journey and listen to their performances! Exploration and trial-and-error are the most helpful learning tools when learning an instrument. Encourage your student to practice for the best musical experience!

We will begin our recorder lessons the week of October 13th! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at ocolon2@wcpss.net.

Thank You!

Message just for Ms. Kessler's Class from Senora Lipetzky!

Buenos dias!

Ms. Kessler's class has been doing an amazing job in Spanish class! They get a score of 1-10 each week in class for good behavior and participation. The students almost got all 10's in Spanish class this quarter, so they have earned a celebration. On Wednesday, October 7th during specials, we will have a salsa celebration in Spanish class. The students will learn about the history of salsa music, dance and food! We will then learn how to dance La Salsa! The students will finish out the celebration with some chips and salsa and will leave class with their very own salsa recipe to take home!

If your student has any dietary needs or if you would like to donate to our celebration, please email me directly at elipetzky@wcpss.net. We will need chips, salsa, plates and juice! Thank you for your support at home and way to go 4th graders! :)
