Spring Running Club 2020!

Calling all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students that enjoy running and would like to prepare for a race (1 mile, 2 mile, or 5k). You should join the Brassfield running club!   During our weekly runs, we will work on building endurance and speed while fostering a love of running.  The club will begin on Wednesday, March 25th and will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45.  Our last running club will be on Wednesday, May 27th. Runners are welcomed to attend running club over their track out if someone is available to drop them off at the track, sign in with a coach, and pick them up at the carpool loop after practice as usual. The runners must be picked up promptly at 4:45 in the carpool parking loop.  We expect that all students participating in our running club will exhibit PAWS behavior. Runners will receive one warning for poor behavior choices. After the one warning, runners who are continuing to make poor behavior choices will be asked to leave the club.  If you have questions, feel free to contact Libby Lipetzky (elipetzky@wcpss.net).  Happy Running!

*Reminder: This form must be completed each season.  If your child participated in the fall, you must still complete this form in order for him/her to participate this spring.
*We will not be ordering t-shirts this spring.

Come join us for Science Olympiad! It is great fun!

Hi Parents,
I would like to personally invite your child to join our Science Olympiad team.
This year Brassfield is sending 2 teams to compete in a spring regional competition.
We are 8 students short from having full teams.

The competition will be held on Saturday, April 18 at Heritage High School.
This is an all day event.
Students are paired for specific events (maximum of 3) so practices are flexible.
I suggest partners that are on the same track or in the same neighborhood...
even siblings. We meet Mondays after school from 3:45-4:45 in Makerspace.
As we approach the tournament date, students typically meet more frequently
as needed.

Here is a link that briefly describes all of the 19 events.

Are you missing any articles of clothing?

Come and Check out the Lost and Found!
There are many beautiful pieces of clothing there!

We are going to put tables outside the cafeteria for Lost and Found on
Thurs  12/5, Fri 12/6, Sat 12/7, Mon 12/9, Tues 12/10.

Come claim your things!

Baby Kate Costa has arrived and Mr. Branch is here to help.

Dear Brassfield Families,
Good afternoon. I am Dr. Kenneth A. Branch, the interim principal at Brassfield Elementary School.  I have been asked to step in while Ms. Stephanie Costa is on leave with new daughter.
It's a pleasure to join the Brassfield family for the next couple of months. I am an experienced WCPSS principal at both the elementary and middle school levels.
Since retiring several years ago, I've stayed
busy with work as an interim, mentor, and trainer.
I've also enjoyed opportunities in non-public
education at the secondary and post-secondary level.
At this point, the plan is for me to serve the Brassfield
community until January 17, 2020.  Please know that
I am a 70% employee.  The office team has my calendar
and will always know when to expect me on campus.
I will be introducing myself to your children by video today
and tomorrow.  I hope they are able to report a favorable first
 impression!
Again, I am delighted to be at Brassfield and look forward
to serving this community in the coming weeks.
Respectfully,
Kenneth A. Branch, Ed.D., Interim Principal
